Tara Fela-Durotoye is the founder and CEO of House of Tara International. She started making her mark when she launched the first bridal directory in Nigeria in 1999. This was followed by her facilitation of the first-ever series of bridal seminars in 2000, which drew in celebrated professionals in the bridal industry. Tara topped her achievements up a notch when she established make-up studios of international-standard.

In 2004, she established the country’s first make-up school and also launched the Tara product line, comprising a range of professional tool kits and a wide range of make-up products. Tara’s product line includes Orekelewa Beauty range, Inspired Perfume and the H.I.P Beauty range. As of today, House of Tara franchises spread across Nigeria and is emerging in other West African countries such as Benin, Ghana and Senegal.

Tara is a graduate of the prestigious Stanford SEED Transformation Program which has aided her efforts as an outstanding entrepreneur and a mentor to countless women across Africa.  Tara was the brain behind the first ever gathering of makeup professionals in Nigeria: the Makeup in Nigeria Conference (MINC) which held in 2014.

Over the years, Tara efforts and excellence has been recognized and rewarded with several awards. To start off, in 2006, she received a Fashion and Style Award, the Pioneer Award for Beauty, recognizing her role in bringing professionalism and recognition into make-up industry. In the same year, she also received an Award for Excellence in the Beauty Sector courtesy City People Magazine Awards.

Following these, Tara received the Entrepreneur of the Year Award in South Africa in 2007 and again in 2013. Still in 2007, she received The Future Awards as the Young Person of the Year. In January 2008, she was recognized with the Wedding Planner Honorary Award for mentoring other make artists in the industry.

Tara Fela-Durotoye has been listed as one of the 20 Young Power Women in Africa in the prestigious Forbes Magazine and has also received the 1st Lady Award for Women Empowerment, to name just a few. The New York Forum Africa, Bloomberg, France 24, Reuters, and CNN’s African Voices are some of the international platforms who have featured a profile of Tara.



House of Tara is Nigeria’s most recognized and fastest growing makeup school in the industry with the most up to date training methods, unique education concepts and creative makeup courses.

The school is a boutique-learning environment for potential artistes looking to pursue their interests in the cosmetic arts and taught by professional artists who are currently some of the leading makeup artists in Nigeria with real-world information and practicability.

The school offers its graduating students a full set of quality makeup brushes, makeup box, products and lots more which will prepare them for their first industry job.

Over the years, House of Tara International in its own right has won some well deserved awards. In 2006, the school won the Right Vision Movement Award for Creativity & Productivity Makeover Outlet of the Year. In 2007, the school received The Africa SMME Award which was presented in South Africa. In 2008, it won yet another Creative Business Award of the Year.
